Significant events:
Although the Cold War never fully evolved into a real war, there were many conflicts (political, economical, and military) during the Cold War which lead to strained tensions between the two power blocs. Some of these conflicts were so great that a Third World War was threatened. Fortunately, none of these events actually resulted into another world war.
There were countless events which occurred during the Cold War. However, for Socials 11 purposes we will only focus on a few of them. They are:
-The Arms Race
-The Space Race
-The Korean War
-The Suez Crisis
-The Cuban Missile Crisis
-The Vietnam War
-Détente
-The End
Note that other events such as the Chinese Civil War, the Red Hunt, and the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan also significantly impacted the world during the Cold War.
